In the petition filed in the Lahore High Court, it was said that the Governor of Punjab has asked the Chief Minister to take a vote of confidence, but the Speaker has banned the participation of the League members in the session.
It should be noted that on Monday night, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman wrote in writing, instructing the Chief Minister of Punjab to take a vote of confidence, that 'under Article 130 (7) of the Constitution, on Wednesday, December 21, at four o'clock in the afternoon, the Punjab Assembly I call for a meeting in which the Chief Minister takes a vote of confidence.
On Tuesday, Speaker Punjab Assembly and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Sabtain Khan while talking to journalists said that the assembly session is already underway, a new session cannot be called on the advice of the governor.
He said that the vote of confidence demanded by the governor of Punjab is considered illegal, the session of the Punjab Assembly was not ended but postponed.
The Governor of Punjab cannot ask for vote of confidence in the ongoing session of the Punjab Assembly. We may postpone today's meeting.
