The Punjab government has approved the bill for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities on the orders of the court, which has been given the shape of law.
According to the law, those who joke with disabled persons will also be punished, for depriving them of their right, they will be imprisoned for two years and a fine of one lakh rupees.
Justice Jawad Hassan of Lahore High Court had ordered to make the law on the request of Chairman Judicial Activation Panel Azhar Siddique.
The text of the law states that disabled persons will be able to contest elections and special courts will be established for their proceedings.
Special courts will be established for those who do not implement this law.
According to the text, there will be no discrimination against disabled people, they will be provided special facilities in public transport.
Admissions in educational institutions will be given on equal footing and special health facilities will be provided.
Persons with disabilities will have full rights to inherit property and special quota will be allocated in all institutions for employment.
The Punjab government will create such infrastructure that will take into account the needs of disabled people.
Parking for disabled people will be free in public places.
