Hearing on the petition against de-notification of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is ongoing in Lahore High Court.
A five-member bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh is hearing the petition on Wednesday.
During the hearing, Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh said that the matter has not been resolved, on which Governor Balighur Rehman's lawyer said that it will be resolved if they take a vote of confidence.
The court inquired that 'Tell me what the offer is?'
He replied that we had offered to take the vote of confidence in two to three days, but they ignored our offer.
The court has suspended the notification to remove Pervez Elahi from the post of Chief Minister till January 11. In the previous hearing, the court had summoned the Attorney General and Advocate General of Pakistan for assistance.
Chief Minister Pervez Elahi had approached the Lahore High Court against his dismissal.
He had taken a stand in his petition that the Governor had not written a letter to the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence. The letter was addressed only to the Speaker and not to the Chief Minister.
It was also stated in the petition that 'the Punjab Assembly session was already in progress, when one session is in progress, the Governor cannot call another session for the vote of confidence.'
Parvez Elahi has taken the stand that the governor has no authority to de-notify the chief minister unconstitutionally.
After the preliminary hearing, the court had temporarily suspended the notification of the Punjab Governor.
