Even after almost 24 hours, the militants are still holding the officials hostage in the detention center of Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Militants are demanding air access to Afghanistan from the government.
The situation worsened in Cantt of Bannu district on Sunday afternoon when the terrorists under investigation in the CTD detention center snatched the weapons from the personnel and took them hostage.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Saif told Urdu News that the negotiations for the release of the hostage officials have been going on since yesterday, but the deadlock is still there, but it is hoped that some good news will come out soon.
Barristers are trying to get the hostages out safely, according to Saif.
Barrister Saif said that after some time the media will be briefed about the entire situation.
Barrister Saif further said that people should not be worried and should not listen to rumours.
The government will not fulfill any demand of terrorists. The beleaguered terrorists want to get the sympathy of the public through video messages.
Spokesperson of the provincial government said that it is better for these armed people to lay down their weapons otherwise strict action will be taken. Elements involved in terrorist activities will not be treated lightly.
According to the police officer, on Sunday, the officers of the counter-terrorism department were investigating 20 to 25 suspicious persons on the basis of suspicion that during the investigation, the terrorists took the arms of the CTD officers and took them hostage and during the firing. There was also an exchange.
On the other hand, four different videos have been released on social media by the terrorists, in which they are showing the injured hostages and demanding safe airlift to Afghanistan.
A new video was also released by the terrorists this morning in which some of the suspected terrorists are demanding the government to evacuate them safely. The man seen in the video is confirming that he is a hostage inside the CTD compound.
CTD I was also brought to the detention center for investigation, but I am not related to anyone, I am innocent. According to the person in the video, the control of the detention center is currently with the armed men.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Saif in his statement also denied the attack of militants on CTD compound.
