Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has condoled with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the death of his mother.
In a tweet on Friday, Shahbaz Sharif wrote in a tweet that there is no greater loss than losing a mother. I express my condolences to Narendra Modi on the death of his mother.
Narendra Modi's mother died on Friday morning at the age of 99.
According to NDTV, Narendra Modi was scheduled to visit South Bengal today where he was supposed to inaugurate various projects, but later the Prime Minister's Office informed through a tweet that he will participate in the event through video conference.
72-year-old Narendra Modi attended his mother's last rites, carried Arthi on his shoulder and later boarded the same ambulance that carried her.
A source in Narendra Modi's family told NDTV, "We are grateful to those who supported us during this difficult time. We request you to remember the departed soul in prayers and return to your scheduled work. This will be a special tribute to Narendra Modi's mother.
Hiraban lived with Narendra Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi in a village called Racine, which is close to Gandhinagar. Narendra Modi used to visit the village regularly to meet him.
